NOW THAT NIGERIA HAS THE LARGEST ECONOMY IN AFRICA 4

Government need to provide easy access to fund by Small Scale Enterprises. The drivers of key sectors in the economies that have grown the economies of emerging markets of  BRICs (Brazil,Russia,India,China)  are the SMEs.They had government support thorough access to cheap credits and tax incentives. We must tread this path if we must progress from MINT (Mexico,Indonesia,Nigeria,Turkey) that we are now to a level where economic managers all over the world we take us serious.

The issue of security is a problem we must resolve quickly because in the eye of  the world, removal of this great challenge will open further gateway of opportunities. The security threats in the North and kidnapping down South  must be tackled headlong. .I understand the complex nature of guerrilla warfare with ethno- religious colourations.
I love to close by saying that rebased GDP has given us an eye opener of where we are and impetus to move higher if we so desire. This is a country full of potentials so immense yet have tapped very little.Nature has given us resources advantage but it is becoming an albatross. We have a surging population that should stimulate production but we have neglected it and it has become our snares. We can turn things around now that we know our new stand point. However if we fail to act decisively now, some sectors might close down and with am ever increasing population, standard of living will plummet say in the next 5 years. There is disproportionate distribution of income in the country to the extent that 95% of the nation's income is in the hand of just 5% of the population. This is why there is so much poverty in the land.Corruption is denying the poor the opportunity for inflow of wealth from government to the people.GEJ must address this issues now without delay.

The expected borrowing or debt to GDP is put at 40%before rebasing  was 19%.It has declined to 11%.This should not push us to borrow more but invest more to develop gas exploration so as to take that sector to enviable height.

The energy sector contribution to the GDP is not significant due to the fact that it's just been privatized. The privatization has not brought much dividend.Energy is a strategic sector in any economy
and industrialization rests on the lap of stable power supply. The sector itself has the capacity to employ a big chunk of our population.Stable power reduces the energy cost of all industries in the country neither formal or informal.Just like blue chip companies need electricity so do artisans. There will be national savings when we can power our homes too.The cost of fuel and generator repairs will be abolish thereby giving all citizens opportunities to spend less; the less we spend the more we are likely to save. The aggregate savings in the economy is a good measure of standard of living.Itsbad that after 100 Yeats we live in darkness and yet will still pay for the darkens consumed. The issue of power should have been regarded like unemployment as a national emergency. The time to act is now. Huge investment in Agriculture which used to be our mainstay should be carried out by government beyond what is bandied in the press.Government has recorded some achievement in this sector but it is enough. The attention agriculture requires is the type that will  ultimately take us beyond pre 1990 era when our economy was booming.
