IFO LOCAL GOVERNMENT DAYLIGHT ROBBERY 3

This event of December 4, 2014, confirmed my long term belief that there is no difference between all political parties in Nigeria. They are same of the same.APC control Ogun state and Lagos. This wickedness is happening right under the noses of the two governments. I will understand if it had been Lagos because that is how the government harasses companies with dubious tax claims. But it was shocking to see this under one of the best if not the best governor in Nigeria, Governor Ibikunle Amosun. This governor and that of Oyo state are the two that I hold in high esteem. One will be amazed at their achievement in the last 3 years in their states. So how can a hardworking Governor like Senator Ibikunle Amosun allow Ifo local government chairman to rubbish his good works. Ogun people are respectable individuals and well educated. It beats me why Ifo local government is using touts to torments motorists. I saw so many people using words that are too grave on these touts. People are angry and tormented. Someone lost a huge contract because he failed to attend an award meeting caused by these touts. You could imagine what he will say to theses gangsters. This is not democracy we crave for.

If you are reading this either in Nigeria or outside the country, beware of Ojodu Berger as you navigate Ojodu atop the bridge down to go under the bridge to your destinations. They are all over major streets going into Alagbole and environs too. Ifo local governments agents of impunity abound. Avoid taking Berger if you can. you may come in through Ikeja if you wish but if you go deep inside Ojodu, you may not escape these touts.

I want to appeal to his excellence, Governor Ibikunle Amosun that he should call Ifo local government chairman to order now. An event like this will not help his re-election and is already putting spanner in the works of his sterling performance so far in Ogun state.

IFO LOCAL GOVERNMENT DAYLIGHT ROBBERY 2

The ramshackle office I was taken under the pretext that I want to collect a notice ( in any case which should be the first step for revenue of such nature if it exists by local government bye-law), was horrible .It was made of plywood and nothing was there except a table and a bench to dupe people. And then they rudely push in your face damning you a bogus “invoice" for payment. The three -page document is so faded like the issuers. I could hardly read the over photocopied documents. Without any basis they issue you the fraudulent papers to go and pay before you can leave with your car. In any case, your tyres would have been deflated before you get down. There is a vulcanizer waiting for you. Once you are in their prison yard or call it detention camp, you are done for. I have never seen so much wickedness in my life under civil rule.

I counted up to four various security agents' vehicles coming in to bail out the powerful victims among us who can pull calls though to their own. God help you if you don't know anybody. If after you are done with them by going to pay or given the phantom receipts, the pot bellied and oversized gate-man will want to collect money for his own "receipt." He will not open the ramshackle and dilapidated gate if you don't pay him. I thought of ramming open the rusty gate but I was advised against it by the guest I had in my car.

I met so many unsuspecting victims like me in their den. Minute by minutes, cars were being deceived in a kidnap manner into this "revenue" joint. I kept wondering that if a local government need money desperately, why employ touts and school drop outs reeking of both alcohol and body odour? Ifo local government cannot tell Nigerians that they don't have educated people that can do the job in the whole local government.

IFO LOCAL GOVERNMENT DAYLIGHT ROBBERY

This is not democracy we fought for. Something terrible is happening in Ojodu Berger part of Ifo local government. In broad daylight, miscreants of the local government said they are collecting revenue by impounding vehicles. In this present day Nigeria? They were quick to remove vehicle number plates of unsuspecting road users.

The thugs and area boys carried no regular identity cards but wear faded traffic vests. If you are caught in their web, you are finished. The so called revenue they were sent to collect include, radio and TV licence (on the road), car permit, joint local government permit and other spurious and unheard of permits. The rogues were rude, untrained, illiterate and a disgrace to Ifo local government and Ogun state.

My report is a personal experience. I was flagged down with sticks and nailed wooden materials. If you don't stop, your tyres will get punctured. Then your embarrassment starts. They began to ask you questions that can only come from simpletons. Once they discovered that your car is a company car, they start asking for spurious permits. If you don't play ball, they will deceive you into believing that they want to help you. They would tell you they want to go and give you notice of payment within 7 days. This is fraud! Please don't let them in your car or follow them to their ramshackle office. This is a warning to Lagosians. Ifo local government is duping people using its boundary between Lagos and Ogun at Berger bus stop as conduit!

SHOW OF SHAME AT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY : THE EXECUTIVE LOOKS ON

Events that followed the show of shame at the National Assembly Abuja on Thursday November 20, shows that one cannot completely absolve GEJ.By now the presidency should have asked the Inspector General of police to come and explain reasons for the fiasco that has brought disrepute to this great nation globally.

There appear to be desperation on the part of the executive to get approval for extension of request for state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states. The lawmakers alleged that they came to seat so that they can consider the request of Mr president on the extension of state of emergency which will end on that Thursday. However there were PDP lawmakers who didn't want to be outdone by the APC counterparts on issue of GEJ's impeachment plot. They were desperate to get into the complex since APC members too were desperate. In any case, the lawmakers  voted against the extension of state of emergency in those states with lots of gusto.
The president ought to have addressed Nigerians to wash his hands off this terrible disgrace. The anchor of the president's media relationship, Dr Doyin Okupe did not do justice to the issue in his address.

Nigerians are at a loss as to the brand of politics we play. Should we call it gate crashing politics or politics of the fence scaling? What is the different between what happened at the complex gate and what we have daily at Oshodi in Lagos? Even Oshodi is better now. Is this a prelude to what is to be expected in 2015?

SHOW OF SHAME AT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY : THE POLICE SHOWMANSHIP

The Nigerian police have been battling to  proffer reasons for the showmanship put up during the national assembly fiasco of Thursday, November 20th.The performance of the force left much to be desired.

While the fiasco lasted the top officer at the National Assembly complex kept clutching his phone to his ear waiting to take instruction from "oga at the top." It was on such orders the speaker of the House, honourable Aminu Tambuwal was finally allowed to go into National Assembly complex.

The police have been giving various reasons for their conduct. They said they had intelligence report that hoodlums were about to cause chaos by invading the National Assembly. But is that why the police couldn't recognize Tambuwal and David Mark as to allow them easy passage at the security post. Even though the two were later allowed in, they were thoroughly embarrassed. On possession of intelligence report, it will be better if we have such about continued senseless killings by the insurgents in North Eastern part of Nigeria.

On a critical assessment, this type of undemocratic behaviour has exposed the manner the common man is treated on daily basis in Nigeria. We have police harassing Nigerians all over the country. There was a ban on police check points yet police officers are at check points all over Lagos collecting tolls.

The latest now is that members of House of Representatives have asked the police IG to come and explain in a democracy, why they were looking for 'hoodlums' in the hallowed chambers. Just wondering, whether the legislators that practically shook the main gate of the complex to its foundation have moral authority to question the Inspector General of Police?
The IGP, Suleiman Abba, appeared before a house committee probing the fiasco of today, Wednesday. He still justified their actions. He even said it was subjudice for him to talk about Hon. Tambuwal's case in court and as such he cannot be recognize him as the speaker.‎
