TENSION MOUNTS IN NASSARAWA STATE: AFTERMATH OF BAMA KILLINGS

Following last week brutal killings of over 30 policemen by Ombetse cult group, there is palpable tension in the state. Most of the officers killed were burnt beyond recognition while bodies of many are yet to be found. The families of those affected are wailing and demanding for justice. However the police hierarchy has vowed to fish out the killers. A case of crying over split milk.

NSM COMMENT
It on record that the Nigerian police is underfunded and under equipped. Criminals use sophisticated weapons while our police still use outdated equipment. Billions of Naira is budgeted for the police every year and there is nothing to show for it. Unconsciously we send forward police to war zones to be slaughtered with scanty training and ammunition. Criminals are becoming more and more daring but our approach to tackling criminality is nothing to write home about. Many are appalled by these latest developments but when the security agent’s begin to fish out the killers, the sponsors of these insurgent will go to press and the press will readily give them audience. A case in point is the Baga incidence. Where is human right watch when these officers were killed
