The anniversary of Dana Air Crash of June 3, 2012 bring tears again to eyes of Nigerians over the great loss the nation suffered on that fateful day.We cried yet again as a nation for our beloved ones, friends and compatriots with agony that were indescribable. My prayers is that may the Almighty continue to give succour, hope and fortitude to the bereaved to bear their irreparable losses.
The pain of relatives of those who lost their lives in that tragic Dana airline crash will be relieved if they get adequate compansation at least as specified by international aviation code. Many families are yet to hear anything from airline since the incidence occured one year ago.Only paltry 23 families have been fully compensated out of over 152 victims that died. There were promises on the part of government that justice will done for the families for compensation but to no avail. We have short memories as a nation and we have all forgotten the agony we suffered together on that day as a nation. We have all moved on with our lives and at point the airline was given clearance to fly again.
Are we so used to tragedies as a nation that we take tragic deaths as normal? Isn't it a failure on the part of government who promised heaven and earth that day and up till now did nothing about results of investigation and justice to the bereaved? National assembly made promises. What is their promises worth one year after?
Oh they did something, yeah they built cenotaphs both by Federal government in Abuja and Lagos by Lagos state government at the scene of the crash in Iju-Ishaga.What is a monument compared with burdens in the hearts of those who lost their bread winners? What about those whose properties were destroyed on ground and lives lost while sleeping at home? will they appreciate cenotaph. There was cenotaph erected during bell-view crash, is it not overgrown with weeds?
