FANNING EMBERS OF TENSION IN CRIMEA

The fall out of Ukraine political crisis is set not only to define world politics but will definetely change some aspect of World economies.

On the political front the US is in the fore front of recommending sanctions for Russia over Crimea. Crimea is part of Ukraine but by Referendum voted to join Russia. Those opposed to Russian move have said what Russia is doing is annexation of Crimea. Crimea is a country southern of Ukraine or South Eaterm of Russia,The interim president appointed after the Ukrainian crisis,Oleksandr Turchynov has rejected annexation of Crimea and vowed that they will fight to keep Crimea as part of Ukraine. They surely have UN support and that of western nations There is a stand off.Who blinks first?

The peninsula of Crimea has been a disputed area for long since it borders Ukraine and Russia. When Syria crisis got out of hand, the US wanted military intervention to save civilian population and to oust the Syrian president.

Given frosty diplomatic relationship betwee the two countries, one is not surprised that the US is against Russia for bringing Crimea back to her fold. This is a clear case of diplomatic retaliation or 'do me,I do you' in Nigerian parlance. Tension is building and I hope reason will prevail in the long run.The siege is on in Crimea.
