STILL ON COLLAPSED CHURCH BUILDING IN NIGERIA

The last has not been heard about the collapsed guest house of Synagogue Church of all nations. The latest news is that the number of South Africans that died in the tragedy on Friday September 19 was put at 67 according to President Jacob Zuma. The tragedy has thrown the nation into  mourning because South Africans are among the foreign nationals that troop to the church both in Nigeria and in South Africa. According to the South African President, it has been long since a calamity of this magnitude befell the nation outside the country. South Africa has sent forensic experts to Nigeria to identify her citizens. The only survivor on Tuesday was a middle age woman who came out alive after spending four days under the rubble.Families and relatives have been asked to come forward and help in identifying their members.

Meanwhile,NEMA,the government agency handling the rescue, said they cannot confirm the figures by President Zuma until they moved to next stage of their effort where victims will be identified. The authority also confirmed that the total number of deaths had reached 80 after clearing of the rubble got to the ground floor. On sanctions for the church, Lagos State Government said this will only come if the church is found culpable for not obtaining necessary permits for the construction at the site and that investigation is still on going.

OUR HEARTS GO TO FAMILIES OF THOSE WHO LOST LOVED ONES IN THIS TRAGEDY PRAYING GOD TO GIVE THE FAMILY THE FORTITUDE TO BEAR THE IRREPARABLE LOSS. MAY WE NOT SEE THIS AGAIN.PLEASE ACCEPT OUR CONDOLENCES.

We will suggest that this period of mourning should be used to take very good care of the wounded and compensation for the family of those that died both from government and especially the church. No amount of money can repair this damage but sound material assistance will go along way to comfort them. The report of investigation into this should be made public so that we all can learn from this to avert future occurrence.
