SHOW OF SHAME AT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY : LAWMAKERS DISPLAY ACROBATIC SKILLS

To say that members of House of Representatives disgraced this nation is an understatement. The show of shame by the legislators is unbecoming of people who are regarded as Honourables.

On 20th of November, 2014, Honourable Tambuwal, the embattled speaker of the House stormed the National Assembly Complex in Abuja with his loyalists and sympathizers in a daring manner. The Speaker had denounced PDP, the party that brought him honour and fame for another political party, the APC few weeks ago. Ever since that pronouncement, he had been in the news for series of events. First he was stripped off his security apparatus, then he went court to reinstate that and he went back to court again to stop the house from impeaching him. Later he was asked to withdraw from APC's presidential rate to vie for Sokoto state governorship election. The house had adjourned to reconvene on December 2nd.So what brought them all to the NASS complex last week Thursday morning?

It was gathered that the members were coming to impeach president GEJ following his non performance with regard to the state of the nation. But do they have to wait this long? This was later confirmed after the brouhaha at the NASS gate when lawmakers in a rowdy session called members to come and sign on a rough sheet intention to impeach the president. Hear one : ''come and sign, come and sign here, we must impeach him, Jonathan must go," He was so desperate.Ah! Is this democracy? Is that how impeachment is done. The lawmakers were sweating. They practically broke their way into the chamber kicking and shoving. One was bare chested. His shirt was loosely worn.Aba! The Senate president, David Mark was seen embarrassed, harassed and shoved by one lawmaker.

Going back to the commotion at the NASS gate, the lawmakers began to scale the NASS gate after being denied access by the Nigerian police. The police said they were acting on security information that hoodlums were about to evade the complex. The personal introduction done by the speaker, Aminu Tambuwal was not enough initially as the police had to get approval from "oga at the top" before he was allowed in but not after his motley crowd of supporters began to scale the gate to forcefully bundle themselves in. One of the lawmakers was so good at the scaling that he landed inside the complex in an acrobatic manner. And his comrades were applauding in cheers.I wonder why Nigeria cannot get Olympic gold in gymnastics with skills like that. Then the police descended so low to shamefully open canisters of tear gas on the lawmakers. This is disgraceful for a force that the IG promised will secure lives of all Nigerians on his confirmation of appointment by Council of state few weeks ago.‎.
