US, NATO BEGIN MILITARY EXERCISE IN UKRAINE

US and NATO begin military exercise in Ukrainian border. The exercise is part of planned joint action to put an end to crisis in Ukraine brought about  early this year by discreet annexation of Crimea by Russia.

In the weeks that followed, pro-Russian protesters began to grow in strength that led to untold crises. The crises got to a head with shooting down a of Malaysian plane by people believed to be pro Russian rebels killing all passengers and crew on board. It is an open secret that Moscow tacitly support this group.Russia had taken advantage of the political crises in Ukraine earlier in the year to move its troops close to Crimea, a peninsula in south of Ukraine

The EU and US have warned that the Russian government headed by President Vladimir Putin  will be sanctioned for supporting the pro-Russian rebels against Ukrainian government.

Keen observers believe that Crimea has been an autonomous republic and disputed part of Russia for long but stands legally within the territory of independent Ukraine. The battle for the sole of the Peninsula is for economic reason rather than ideology. The Black Sea is in Crimea and its very rich in Hydrocarbon deposit and gas reserves. The Black sea ports is not only important due to its historical value but because it is an international trade gateway out of Eastern Europe, Mediterranean,Middle East and other parts of the world. The region has a good climate for thriving agriculture and tourism business.Crimea is a first choice destination for Russian citizens due to its beautiful landscape and therapeutic mud. In March, there was a referendum in the region in which citizens voted overwhelmingly - 96% to join Russia. The referendum was rejected by Kiev and UN.It is also widely believed that Russia is behind the recent moves in Crimea to join Moscow.

The US, UN and NATO sees Russian moves in Crimea as invasion of the territory of an independent nation of Ukraine and have now decided to take action on Russia.
